About Us

Founded in 1990 by a dedicated group of 13 women, HELP for Pets, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of animals in the Greater Danbury community. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a trusted resource for pets and the people who love them.

Our mission is centered on compassion, responsibility, and advocacy. We strive to address animal overpopulation, find loving homes for pets in need, and reduce the spread of infectious diseases. Through community-based programs, partnerships, and volunteer-driven initiatives, we provide essential services such as veterinary care, food assistance, and pet adoption support.

We believe that every animal deserves compassionate treatment and a quality life. As part of our humane approach, we are also committed to advocating for responsible solutions—including euthanasia when it is the most compassionate option to prevent suffering.

One of our core goals is to significantly decrease the feral cat population and ensure that all animals in our care and community are treated with dignity, respect, and kindness.

At HELP for Pets, Inc., we are proud to carry forward the vision of our founders by creating a safer, more humane future for animals—one life at a time.
